If the latest reports are true, the Detroit Red Wings could have the chance to make a major acquisition from the Vancouver Canucks.

It looks as though there could be a major shakeup coming to the Vancouver Canucks, and it's something that the Detroit Red Wings could potentially take advantage of.

There have been rumours of issues in the locker room between Canucks players J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. And per Elliotte Friedman in his latest "32 Thoughts" podcast, the Canucks are listening to offers..

I do think they've talked to other teams about Pettersson. I do think they've talked to other (teams) about Miller. I think they prefer to keep both guys, they've seen what they can do. But they're listening.

However, the one thing that could scare Yaerman away from a potential deal is the reported "enormous" cost that it would take to acquire one of them.

These are two guys, in Allvin and (President Jim) Rutherford, who are not afraid. But the price would be enormous.

Friedman also noted that the Canucks are also hoping that the rumoured conflict between Pettersson and Miller can work itself out.

I believe everybody knows that Vancouver is open to listening, I believe they have already on both players and will continue to do so.

But I still think that Vancouver's preference is that this works itself out, and both, for the lack of a better term, 'grow up and figure out,' because they realize these are hard trades to win.

Miller already has a connection to the local Detroit area, as he once played for the U.S. National Development Program in Ann Arbor, about 30 minutes outside downtown Detroit.

He later played for the now-defunct Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.
