Red Wings may have found a diamond in the rough
Red Wings signed Alexandre Doucet to a contract after his final year of junior as he went undrafted.
Doucet spent the majority of his first season pro in the ECHL but had a great season with 41 points which earned he 6 games in the AHL this season.
The young forward has mentioned that he knows that not many players make the NHL from the ECHL but has been putting in the work to constantly improve his game to be one of the few exceptions.
«I wondered if I had a chance in the pros, but I always believed in myself,» Doucet said. «It was a motivation. Nothing has been done yet, but it is a step in the right direction.»
If Doucet continues to improve at this rapid rate, he will likely be one of the few players able to make the jump from the ECHL to the NHL.
