As the Trade Deadline gets closer, are the Detroit Red Wings and GM Steve Yzerman getting set to make a major addition in the crease?

We're now just over a week away from the Trade Deadline, and teams all across the NHL are preparing to either load up pieces in anticipation of a deep postseason run or sell off assets in a rebuilding effort.
For the last several years, the Detroit Red Wings have either been sellers or have stood pat at the Trade Deadline. But for the 1st time in recent memory, GM Steve Yzerman is in prime position to become a buyer.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato has already been linked to them thanks to the devastating injury to Andrew Copp which will cause him to miss the rest of the year, but could the Red Wings also be eyeing a prime piece from another former Central Division foe?
Per NHL analyst Nick Kypreos, the Red Wings are said to be one of several teams potentially interested in St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington:

The Red Wings already have Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon on their roster; having just traded Ville Husso to the Ducks and with Talbot under contract for another year, a potential deal for Binnington would most likely involve Lyon going back the other way.

Binnington just helped Canada win the 4 Nations Faceoff title

Despite goaltending being considered the biggest weakness for Canada entering the 4 Nations Faceoff, Binnington morphed into the goaltender from 2019 that went undefeated in must-win situations and backstopped the St. Louis Blues to the Stanley Cup.
He and Canada defeated the Americans in the 4 Nations title game, making save after save including an iconic stonewalling of Auston Matthews in overtime just minutes before Connor McDavid's winning goal.
Binnington is under contract through 2027 with an AAV (average annual value) of $6 million.
Despite his success for Canada at the 4 Nations, his record with the Blues this year hasn't been as strong, and their spot in the postseason is anything but assured.
