The Detroit Red Wings announce a huge acquisition
The Detroit Red Wings anounce a major acquisition today as they sign top Czech forward Jakub Rychlovsk to a two-year entry level NHL contract.
General manager Steve Yzerman scoops up Rychlovsk from the Extraliga Euro league where he had a break out season, tallying 46 points during last year's campaign with the Bl Tygři Liberec.
General manager of Bl Tygři Liberec comments: ''I'm glad that Jakub was able to sign a contract overseas and we'll keep our fingers crossed that he makes it to the NHL,» Liberec coach Filip Pean was quoted on the club's website. «It is of course a significant loss for us, but I am sure that we will find a way to at least partially replace him. There is an opportunity for other promising players of our club to take over his role. I'm confident we can handle it and we wish Jakub the best of luck on his overseas mission.''
Red Wings fans around the league have reasons to be optimistic as this young 22 years old Czech has massive potential and could be a key asset to help the Red Wings make the post season in 2025. If he fails to make the squad, Rychlovsky will likely get some development time in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
