Today is Red Wings' legend and current GM Steve Yzerman's 59th birthday and while he has plenty to celebrate, he also has a lot on his plate as the Wings enter the off-season.
Yzerman will have his biggest off-season yet with the Wings as he needs to agree on contract extensions with two key young players in Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond.
The Wings GM will also need to look at possible trades and free agents signing as the team is looking to continue building a more successful lineup after just missing the playoffs this season.
Now, Yzerman faces the most important summer of his return to Detroit. He must lock up his franchise's young twin pillars in Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, then he must set about putting the Red Wings in the best position to contend for the 2025 postseason. - Stockton
Hopefully, when all is said and done, Yzerman will be as good a GM for the Wings as he was a captain, leading the team to multiple Stanley Cups.
