Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney reports that there is nothing new for a Jeremy Swayman's contract
With training camp approaching, the Boston Bruins have yet to sign star goalie Jeremy Swayman.
The Bruins must rely on Joonas Korpisalo and rookie Brandon Bussi in his absence. According to the Boston Globe, negotiations between Swayman and the Bruins have reached a stalemate, with both parties far apart on philosophical differences.
Fluto Shinzawa of "Bruins Rinkside" suggested this dispute might extend into the start of the season, highlighting Swayman's confidence in his abilities. Reports indicate Swayman seeks a contract with a higher AAV than Juuse Saros' recent eight-year, $61.92 million deal ($7.74 million AAV).
"I wouldn't be surprised if this goes into camp and he's not signed, Shinzawa said on Sept. 14 in "Bruins Rinkside" show. "I think we've come to know Jeremy as someone who is very sure of himself, very confident, very secure in what he's done and what he can be."
