The Red Wings ended up missing the playoffs this season and will look to make some changes to their promising lineup to have a more successful season next year.

One free agent that could help on the blue line at a cheap cap hit is defenseman Joel Edmunson. The 30 year-old defenseman is great at both ends of the ice but it is his defensive play that could really help the Wings next season.

Another player that would be a great addition is forward Jason Zucker. The 32 year-old is not the scorer he one was but is still a big difference maker as he is known for throwing his body around quite a big and even led all NHL forward in 2023 with 197 hits.

Lastly, Casey Mittelstadt, who is coming off one of his best seasons with 57 points and is still young which means he can grow with the Wings young core as well as help them on the offensive side. He would clearly be a great option but will likely be also be the most expensive one.

Any or all of these players would be great additions as they would bring pieces to the Wings that are needed for next season.
