Huge news for this Red Wings top prospect
Simon Edvinsson has received a massive honour for his great performance as he is named to the AHL's top prospect team.
Recently, the AHL came out with their top prospect roster where Detroit Red Wings top prospect Simon Edvinsson was one of only two defensemen in the league to receive the highly sought after distinction. This poses as massive news for the Red Wings fans who can rest assured knowing they have world talent developing on the blue line.
Many insiders had speculated that Edvinsson would make his NHL debut last year, but ultimately stayed in Grand Rapids where he would play a pivotal role in the Griffins success last season. Edvinsson notched eight goals and 22 assists, and was a +5 rating in just 55 regular season games. He would also contribute two added assists in six Calder Cup Playoff games for the Griffins.
«I was very impressed,» Moritz Seider said of the young Swede. «I wasn't really surprised, to be honest. I think everyone kind of knew what he was gonna bring to our team. I mean, he's a big strong skater. He can pass the puck really well, isn't afraid of blocking shots, of throwing his body around and also has a little dynamic element for his offense, and that's definitely something that helped us.» Surely we will see the likes of Simon Edvinsson make the jump to the NHL next year and will likely play with on a pairing with NHL superstar Moritz Seider.
