The NHL has suspended a Lightning player for his actions against the Red Wings on Saturday.
The NHL has come down on the Tampa Bay Lightning for what transpired during Saturday night's game, a 2-0 Detroit Red Wings win at Little Caesars Arena.
However, the play that many fans remain upset about is when star Nikita Kucherov blatantly tripped Michael Rasmussen on his way to scoring an empty net goal near the end of regulation.
Kucherov intentionally stuck his stick blade into Rasmussen's skates, sending him careening into the net, which came off its moorings.
While Rasmussen immediately got to his skates, replays later showed that he needed help from the Red Wings team training staff to make it down the hallway toward the dressing room.
