Red Wings coach Todd McLellan heaps praise on revitalized Patrick Kane after 6th straight win
Detroit Red Wings future Hall of Fame forward Patrick Kane had a trio of assists in last night's win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit's 6th consecutive victory.
Detroit Red Wings fans will always enjoy beating their former rival Chicago Blackhawks, especially when a pair of top former Chicago players have a hand in it.
Alex DeBrincat had a goal with an assist, and Patrick Kane had a trio of assists as part of the Red Wings' 5-3 win over the Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena, their 6th straight win.
Detroit's victory also tied a franchise-record for consecutive wins under general manager Steve Yzerman, and is also the latest in the revitalization of the franchise under new head coach Todd McLellan.
McLellan, who has overseen several Hall of Fame players during his head coaching career, continues to be amazed not only by the poise that Kane displays but also his stick handling abilities.
I said it on the bench, (Kane) has unreal poise with the puck. There's traffic, there's people going everywhere, and guys are taking runs at him. And he's just so calm, and he can hold it a little longer. And while he's doing that, he's seeing things.
Since the coaching change was made, Kane has picked up 10 points (3G, 7A) and looked completely like his old self. Not only did he assist on DeBrincat's 1st period goal, but he also picked up a helper (along with DeBrincat) on Lucas Raymond's 2nd period power play goal.
In the 3rd period, he also assisted on Andrew Copp's goal, initially set up by another former Blackhawk in Erik Gustafsson.
He bobbed and weaved through, slowed it down enough so the players could catch up. I think he found Gustafsson and then Copp on the rebound. But that was all Patty Kane, just slowing things down and creating opportunities for teammates.
