Red Wings defenseman Olli Maatta is headed into the last year of his contract with a cap hit of $3 million.
It looks like the Wings might be parting ways with the 29 year-old defenseman as he will be a 5th or 6th defensemen on the Wings which is low in the lineup for the money he would be making.
Olli Maatta takes advantage of the Leafs turnover with a goal on the breakaway, giving Detroit the early lead!
Maatta played 72 games for the Wings putting up 18 total points with a +14 plus/minus rating and 96 blocked shots.
Hopefully if the Wings do end up trading Maatta they will be able to get something decent in return.
