Just think about how much he could help the Red Wings in an area they've desperately needed - screening the opposition goaltender.

An Original Six rival of the Detroit Red Wings is reportedly set to consider trading two of their top pieces, and general manager Steve Yzerman could be intrigued at the chances to pick up either experienced player.

TSN's Chris Johnston indicated that the Rangers are looking to move on from one or both of Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider under the right circumstances:

Absolutely. Chris Drury, the Rangers general manager is open for business, he's let that be known to other GMs around the league.

Specifically he's mentioned Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider as veteran Rangers players that he'd be willing to move on from under the right circumstances.

I think this coming to light in the last day or two has sent a shockwave through the Rangers dressing room.

A trade of either of these players is not a straight forward transaction.

Both have 15-team no-trade clauses included in their contracts so there could be a situation where the team could would have to try to work with one of those players in order to get them to be moved on from.

A potential acquisition of Kreider would give the Red Wings a figure they've sorely lacked since the retirement of Tomas Holmstrom in 2012 - a player who parks himself in front of the opposition net and makes life a living hell for the goaltender.

Kreider also makes a living picking up points on the power play.

Meanwhile, Trouba is a name that is familiar to Red Wings fans thanks to the rumors during the summer that he was on Detroit's radar.

He allegedly nixed what would have been a move to the Red Wings, instead choosing to stay close to his wife so that she could complete a residency at a local hospital.

If Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman approached the Rangers, which player would you rather see him land?
