The Detroit Red Wings beat the divisional foe Montreal Canadiens 4-2 at Little Caesars Arena last night, making up valuable ground in the tightly-packed Eastern Conference postseason race.
But one major absence for the Red Wings was forward Patrick Kane, who missed the game stemming from an upper-body injury that he sustained earlier in the week during Detroit's loss to the Dallas Stars.
Coach Todd McLellan indicated yesterday that Kane was considered day to day, and has officially declared that Kane won't be playing tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Lightning (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
The early goings of the year for Patrick Kane were not good, as he failed to come close to the near point-per-game production that he was producing in his 1st year with the club.
But once the coaching transition was made from Derek Lalonde to Todd McLellan, Kane's production immediately took off. He was among the NHL leaders in points from late December up until his injury against the Stars.
Not only that, but his teammates also enjoyed an immediate boost in production, including Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.
