As the Detroit Red Wings return to the ice at Little Caesars Arena following Monday's 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on the road, they'll be shorthanded.
Both Patrick Kane and Alex Lyon are unavailable for the Red Wings, who want to make it a pair of wins in a row as the Calgary Flames come to town for the first time since last October.
Kane didn't play in Monday's win, nor did he practice the previous day with what the team called an upper-body issue.
Meanwhile, Lyon will be unable to back up Cam Talbot in tonight's game thanks to having tweaked something during this morning's skate; Ville Husso was brought up from the AHL in his place.
Per Derek Lalonde, Kane remains on a day-to-day basis to return to game action. Following tonight's game against the Flames, the Red Wings will host the New Jersey Devils on Friday afternoon.
Lyon helped to weather the storm that the Islanders began Monday's game with, outshooting the Red Wings by a 7-0 margin and also grabbing the game's first goal.
Meanwhile, Kane has scored three goals with seven assists in his first full year with the Red Wings; he decided against departing over the summer and inked a one-year deal to remain in Hockeytown.
