He's up! The Detroit Red Wings have called up exciting goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa from the AHL, and he'll be in uniform tomorrow night.

The bad news for the Detroit Red Wings is that goaltender Cam Talbot suffered a lower-body injury in yesterday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks at Little Caesars Arena.

He's now the second goaltender on the roster dealing with an injury, as Alex Lyon was hurt during practice last week and is unavailable for Detroit's upcoming 2-game road trip.

The good news is that fans are gearing up to see highly-regarded prospect goaltender Sebastian Cossa in an NHL uniform for the first time in regular season play.

He joined the Red Wings for practice toda and voiced his excitement while detailing his restless night after getting the news of his promotion.

Played the game yesterday, went home, had half a sleep last night, probably woke up a couple times hoping I wasn't going to be late this morning.

Drove up this morning. Right into it, trying to warm up, had a team meeting and right on the ice. It's been a quick turnaround, but it's been a lot of fun so far.

He was called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins earlier today, and he'll the backup to Ville Husso in tomorrow's game against the divisional foe Boston Bruins (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).

He had just played in Grand Rapids' 6-4 win over the Cleveland Monsters when he was informed he was on his way to Detroit thanks to the Talbot injury.

He's posted solid numbers in the AHL this year, going 9-4-1 with a 2.21 GAA and a .925 SV%.

While he never wants to see a teammate go down with injury, he's ready to take full advantage of the opportunity.

You never wish anyone gets hurt. I got to know Cam, met him in training camp, he's an unbelievable guy.

Hopefully, it's a speedy recovery, but that's kind of the nature of the beast. While I'm up here, try to take advantage of it.
